Your Excellency George Liswaniso, High Commissioner of Namibia to the United Kingdom & Northern Ireland,
Distinguished Executive Chairman of FIRST Magazine,
Esteemed Captains of Industry,
Distinguished Invited Guests,
Members of the Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to welcome you all to this special breakfast meeting, which was organised with the support of FIRST Magazine, to bring together business people from the United Kingdom and Namibia.

This event marks the official launch of the second Special Report on Namibia to be published in FIRST Magazine. I, therefore, wish to take this opportunity to thank FIRST Magazine for hosting us and for producing this second Special Report focusing on our country. I can still recall, with great appreciation, that the first Report on Namibia which was published in 2007, was a great success.

Director of Ceremonies,

I encourage the businesspersons and investors present here today to interact with each other and with officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry to exchange information and identify investment opportunities in our country. Namibia is ready to welcome investors to invest in different sectors of our economy and thereby help us to create new jobs and to add value to our natural resources.

Our country is strategically located as a gateway to southern Africa. We have world-class infrastructure in the form of efficient harbours, airports, roads and railways, telecommunication networks as well as a modern and well-functioning financial services sector. We have a stable and peaceful country with a conducive environment for trade and investment.

Institutions such as the Namibia Investment Centre and the Offshore Development Company are in place to provide the necessary information and services to potential investors.

Director of Ceremonies

Indeed, I welcome this event as a contribution to our efforts to attract foreign investors to come to Namibia. I am confident that our interactions this morning will be informative for all participants and will result in concrete business ventures.

We recognize the private sector as the engine for economic growth. I, once again, invite you to come and invest in our country. With these few words, I would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to FIRST Magazine for producing this exceptional Report and for hosting us this morning.

I thank you.
