NB: Applications for passport renewal should be submitted to the high commission at least 6 months prior to expiry date of the passport. Except under exceptional circumstances, passport renewal is permissible only within six months of date of expiry of the passport. A motivation letter can be provided for visa/work purposes.

BRING ALONG YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT WHEN APPLYING FOR A NEW PASSPORT.

If your national ID Card/Birth Certificate/Citizenship is lost or damaged, you must apply for duplicates of the said documents before you can apply for a Namibian Passport.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A NEW NAMIBIAN PASSPORT

• One application form per person (completed in CAPITAL letters, in black ink and sign where indicated)
• If your passport is lost or stolen, you must report this to your local police. The Report should accompany your application. (Metropolitan police do not issue lost property reports. Reports are done online at https://www.reportmyloss.com/uk/register).
• Email address: applicants must provide a correct email address so that the mission can contact the applicant once the document is received from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Namibia. The email is used only for this purpose.
• No photographs of documentation taken on a phone will be accepted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Ensure that clear photocopies of documents are submitted with applications.

The following documents must be submitted with the application for a new Namibian passport.

The standard Application Fee is £20.00.

EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT IS ISSUED FOR AN EMERGENCY ONE-WAY RETURN TO NAMIBIA ONLY!  It is issued when a passport is damaged or expired and the applicant must travel to Namibia in an emergency situation.

The Emergency Travel Certificate is ONLY VALID FOR FIVE DAYS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS. Applicants are STRONGLY advised to apply for an Emergency Travel Certificate at least two (2) days prior to travel date.

Applicants should contact the High Commissions/Embassies of the country in which they plan on transiting before purchasing their flight tickets.

PLEASE NOTE: Emergency Travel Documents CANNOT be submitted through the Republic of South Africa.

• Non-Namibian parent MUST submit a letter of consent, a certified copy of their Birth Certificate and all other documents:
• Copy of flight ticket;
• Copy of the passports of parents;
• Copy of the birth certificates of parents;
• Copy of Namibian Identity document of parents. If either parent is not a Namibian citizen, a copy of the Namibian parent should still be provided;

Exceptions: If one of the parents is deceased, this fact must be stated. Where the consent is given by the guardian the circumstances of guardianship are to be stated. If, as a result of special circumstances (e.g., the absence of a parent) it is not possible to complete the certificate, written consent in some other form (e.g., a letter from the absent parent) will be accepted. If a parent (or guardian) withholds his/her consent or if for some sound reason such consent cannot be obtained an explanation should accompany the application. Any court order in respect of the custody of the child must be forwarded with the explanation. Each case will be considered on its own merits.

The fee for an Emergency Travel Document is £15.00.

After internal consultation pertaining to the need to charge for this service, the ministry requested Treasury to grant it permission to charge a fee of N$250.00 per application. Treasury responded positively to our request and in terms of section 22(b) of the State of Finance Act of 1991 granted our Ministry permission to commence charging for apostille applications.

From the 1st of December 2019, apostille applications from foreign missions will not be accepted without payment of the required fee.
